WA Business Icon™ 2008 finished with 18 year old Tara Franzinelli being announced the winner at the Final Event dinner, held in the Midland Railway workshops on Saturday the 18th October.
Throughout the 10 day competition, 40 contestants pushed through boundaries and achieved goals they never thought were possible. During the first task over $10,000 was raised for two lucky charity organizations, the Advantage Foundation and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
The three competition runners up were Nesh Sooriakumaran, Ruveen Dias and Kylie Adams. Other awards taken out during the competition went to Jenni Hatfield for best Team Player, Shaun Forder for Most Creative, Sarah Maroney for Best Networker, Jordan Holzmann for Most Resourceful and behind the scenes intern Cassie Crofts for Service Above Self.

Stand Out
WA Business Icon™ 2009 is the premier professional business competition for young people aged 18 to 25. The competition has been supported by leading private, public and not-for-profit organisations since its inception in 2005.
Over the course of six days, contestants will be given a series of complex business problems that test their creative thinking, business and leadership skills. The pressure will be on, and it is all about testing yourself, learning and networking. Show yourself, potential employers and industry professionals that you “Stand Out”.
A panel of experienced businesspeople including Business Icon™ sponsors will judge the tasks. The Final event has a star studded judging Panel including Rick Hart - MD Rick Hart Enterprises, and Richard Goyder - CEO Wesfarmers.
The Time Is Right!
You don’t have to be a student or young professional to enter. Whatever your background, we encourage you to prove us that you “Stand Out”! The competition will thoroughly test the successful applicants until one is crowned the WA Business Icon™ 2009 winner. This is your competition, and this could be you.
